George & Ginger – Lively

I like testing patterns for many reasons; to do something different from my day to day work flow, to learn new techniques, and to meet new people. Of course, I get to make myself something, which is always my favorite part.

When I had to the opportunity to sew for Kristi at George & Ginger I jumped on it!! Admittedly, I wasn’t in love with the flowy skirt and bell sleeves on the Lively… until the moment I put it on!! You can tell how much I’m feeling myself in these photos!  HAHA!  I decided to leave the lace skirt unlined to show a little skin 😉

The Lively Top also has a dress option and it’s incredibly flattering and forgiving on an array of sizes as well as body types.   The tester photos look amazing!  I ended up loving this style so much I made a second version during testing.   For both of  my versions I made a plain bodice but the pattern also includes an option for gathering at the shoulders and back yoke.  I’m especially loving the lace applique I added to the shoulders on the Olive modal (from Knitpop) version.

You can also add elastic to make a bubble sleeve– which is next on my list!

If you’re looking for an easy AND trendy sew… look no further. The Lively will fulfill all of your sewing dreams you didn’t even know you had.

These photos were taken in our backyard on the most perfect fall morning… after days and days AND DAYS of rain.  So getting in front of the camera wearing two perfect Lively’s -after a much needed haircut… was all a sychronicity.
